Question 2 (a. + b.)

a. Why did you choose the specific image(s)? (3 Marks)

The reasoning behind the images I chose are as follows:

First Image (T-shirt) –

I chose to use this image as I knew it would grab people’s attention quickly. The shirt in the picture states a fact that few people know but would be surprised to find out. It also contains a bright white smile at the top, which could also attract people to the image. I cropped the woman’s face out of the picture to move the focus to the shirt. I designed this image using InDesign, Photoshop and Placeit.

Second set of images (That’s enough water to…) –

These images were chosen to convey emotion to the viewers of the post. Each image shows them a nice part of the world, whether it be a happy family, beautiful trees, or attractive tomato plants, and how they can be impacted for the better by shopping second-hand. These pictures also follow a green color scheme to keep the post consistent.

Third set of images (CTA) –

The images included in the block with my call to action all contain some form of nature, including trees, leaves, and forest themes. They also contain several pieces of clothing incorporated into the scenery. These pictures were chosen to end my post as they portray what my site and business are all about. The call to action is a link to my website, which also contains similar imagery. For this reason, the pictures included at the bottom of my post also serve as a transitional path into the site and its aesthetic.

b. Explain in detail why the image(s) was beneficial for the post. (3 Marks)

First image:

The first image is beneficial to the post as it serves to grab the reader’s attention. It provides an enticing topic that would result in the reader wanting to scroll down and continue reading the post. The image also tells the reader directly what the following content is about, without revealing too much.

Second set of images:

These three images are beneficial for the post as they serve as the “hero” section of the post. They are inserted there to withdraw emotion from readers as they associate the images with their own lives or beliefs. These images also accompany important facts that elaborate on the original image in the post. This section ultimately keeps the reader concentrated and teaches them new things.

Third set of images:

The bottom set of images used in my post are beneficial for multiple reasons:

  • They allow my post to be in F-pattern and aesthetically complement it well.
  • They serve as a transition into my site as they share the same type of aesthetic as the site and are placed next to the call to action
  • They provide more context about the post, the site and its values.
  • They help complete the footer/final section of my post and compliment the CTA included.
