Part B Question 5

5. Now you are going to apply what you have learned in class. As per the class discussion, please provide me with three different headlines for the story (article in Question #4) and outline your reasoning(s) and explanation for each. Please ensure you base your answer on the different elements of headlines we spoke about in class. Please go into detail for each. (12 Marks)

1 – “We’re 99% sure Rick Rubin is essentially smarter than AI”

This headline seems a little cheesy at first. However, the article talks about how Rick Rubin uses his instinct to help artists create great art and music. The headline claims to know about a thought-provoking topic that many people want to know the answer to (is AI smarter than humans?). It also uses a unique number, which is proven to enhance a headline. Finally, it uses “essentially” as a power word, which can attract more people.

2 – “Human Instinct versus AI: Rick Rubin shows us why we’re valuable”

This headline pits human instinct and AI against one another to create controversy/disagreement among readers and those they may share the article with. The mentioning of showing us why we as humans are valuable could also speak to/be a trigger many of those struggling/understanding self-love and value. The article itself mentions how Rubin writes that “Humanity Breathes in Mistakes.” On top of this, the headline delivers a story to readers in a significantly short number of words. It seems like it will answer a question they have.

3 – “Rick Rubin’s Instinct may be the blueprint to how our creativity holds up to AI programs”

This headline not only gives readers a story in less than 60 words, but also mirrors the article very well. It paints Rubin’s instinct as a sort of protagonist figure against AI and its intelligence/artistic ability.
